Paraffin is a  high molecular weight, straight-chain carbon compound that is directly affected by temperature and indirectly by pressure.   As the crude oil cools,  paraffin crystallizes and precipitates, forming soft or hard deposits. Due to the many temperature changes during production, wax deposits may occur within the formation, near wellbores, as a function of drawdown or within the production string & surface equipment.

Asphaltene is the most substantial & most polar fraction found in crude oil.   They consist of complex molecules with structures and properties that depend on the oil and the separation procedure. Temperature,  pressure and composition changes during each oil production phase can lead to precipitation. As a result, Asphaltene may build up at many places along the production system,  from inside the formation to pumps, tubing, wellheads, safety valves, flowlines & surface facilities. 

Terrosol can clean up paraffin and asphaltenes in Oil & Gas Wells, Flowlines and Tank Bottoms. Terrosolcan also is injected into the flowline or down the hole to prevent paraffin or asphaltene build-up. A maintenance program should be implemented to minimize paraffin and asphaltene deposits. The severity of the problem determines the volume of Terrosol required.
